Will the King Cobra suit you?
The King Cobra is for the rider who wants the top model as everyday transport. It is a large 8 mph road scooter with full suspension, big wheels that clear rough ground, a captain seat and a digital LCD display. Range is quoted at up to 32 miles. Built as a road scooter, it stays assembled and lives in a garage or shed.
It is road legal, and our team completes the DVLA registration on your behalf. A scooter this size deserves a proper test drive, so call ahead and we will have a King Cobra ready to try at one of our North West showrooms.

The King Cobra in detail
Drive's flagship road scooter. Big, solidly built and hard to miss, the King Cobra sits at the top of the Drive range. It reaches 8 mph on the road, and its geometric tiller styling and blade-pattern alloy wheels give it a look unlike anything else in the showroom.

Road equipment
Indicators and mirrors come as standard, along with lights for evening journeys. An anti-rollback system holds the scooter steady on a slope, which is reassuring at junctions and on hill starts.
At the controls
The dashboard is a digital LCD display that keeps speed and battery information in one clear place. Two USB sockets mean a phone and a second device can charge together, and the cup holder takes care of a drink on longer runs. Our staff will go through every control with you before a test drive, and our own engineers carry out servicing and repairs, at a showroom or at your home.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the King Cobra on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
