The Invacare AVIVA RX40 is a rear-wheel drive powerchair set up around the person who will use it. Rear-wheel drive gives sure grip and steady steering outdoors, while a small turning circle keeps it handy in hallways and tighter rooms. Its suspension cushions bumps and vibration, a full set of road-legal lights helps as daylight fades, and the LiNX electronics hold the chair on a smooth, straight course so you are not correcting it all the time.

The AVIVA RX40 in detail
Comfort first, with control to match. Part of Invacare's AVIVA RX family, all of them rear-wheel drive, the RX40 is made for everyday use in and out of the house, and each one is configured for its user after a free assessment.

LiNX and G-Trac
LiNX continually fine-tunes the motors so the chair responds the same way each time you ask it to move. G-Trac helps the chair keep its heading, which means fewer small corrections along the way and a more relaxed drive.
Options and set-up
You can add headrests, a choice of cushions, powered elevating leg rests, trays, a luggage rack, bag hooks and a cane holder. We go through these with you during an assessment at one of our North West showrooms, so the chair is built around your seating and the way you drive. Afterwards, servicing and repairs can be carried out at a showroom or at home.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the AVIVA RX40 on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
