Advice from the showroom floor
Will the Alumina suit you?
Start with the Alumina if lifting is your main worry, whether the person loading the car is you, a partner or a grown-up child. An aluminium frame and a 4 kg lithium battery bring the heaviest piece down to 9.98 kg, and everything comes off without tools. It is not a bare-bones ride, though. There is suspension all round, a swivel seat, armrests that adjust, and a charge can cover up to 15 miles of shops, parks and promenades.
Bring your car to one of our North West showrooms and we will check it fits your boot before you buy. Call ahead so an Alumina is ready for you to try.

The Alumina in detail
Aluminium frame, lithium battery, very little to lift. Motion set out to make the Alumina as light as a scooter can sensibly be, then kept the comfort features that smaller models often lose. Top speed is 4 mph, and it goes into a car boot in pieces of under 10 kg.
What you get
- Heaviest piece 9.98 kg after dismantling
- Lithium battery that weighs only 4 kg
- Up to 15 miles of range
- Suspension at every wheel
- Swivel seat, adjustable armrests and an adjustable tiller
- Basket included
How it comes apart
Remove the seat, unclip the basket and lift away the rear motor section. No tools are involved, and each part is light enough to place in the boot without a struggle. It is worth trying this for yourself, and in our showrooms you can do exactly that.
Comfort for taller riders
A long, flat floor leaves room to move your feet, and the seat is more generous than the usual boot-scooter perch. Ground clearance is 5 cm, which is enough for dropped kerbs and the odd uneven path. If you expect to travel further in a day, ask to see the Alumina Pro alongside it, the same scooter with a larger battery and a 30-mile range. Servicing and repairs are carried out by our own engineers.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Will it fit in my car?
Bring the car to any showroom and we will try it in the boot with you. We take it apart or fold it together, so you can see how it goes in and feel what each piece weighs before you decide.
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No. A 4 mph pavement scooter needs no licence, no tax and no registration. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
