The Royale Sport is a large 8 mph road scooter under a hard-top canopy, for someone who wants to keep going out whatever the forecast. It suits longer local journeys, with up to 28 miles per charge from two 75 Ah batteries. Adjustable suspension, big pneumatic tyres and a soft captain seat keep things comfortable, and the scooter eases its own speed on corners. It stays assembled and lives in a garage or shed.
It is road legal, and we take care of the DVLA registration for you. Come and sit in one at a showroom to judge the canopy and legroom. Call ahead so a Royale Sport is ready to try.

A roof over your head at 8 mph. Drive's Royale Sport is a four-wheel road scooter with a rigid canopy, something we have not come across on any other model. For many owners it takes over the short trips they once made by car.

Calm on the road
Smart speed reduction trims your pace automatically as you steer into a bend or thread between people, so the scooter always feels in hand. Together with the suspension and air-filled tyres, it stays smooth even at full speed.
Living with a big scooter
The Royale Sport is a full-size machine that stays in one piece, so it wants a garage, shed or covered spot with a plug socket nearby. Sit in one at our North West showrooms to check the headroom under the canopy and the reach to the controls. It carries a 12-month warranty looked after by our own engineers, and part exchange is available in store.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Royale Sport on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
