Will the Cobra suit you?
The Cobra is for someone who wants a large, comfortable road scooter for proper journeys, not only a run to the corner shop. It reaches 8 mph, and a full charge covers up to 30 miles. The captain seat rotates, slides and reclines, and the armrests, headrest and tiller all adjust, so it can be set up around you. It stays assembled and is kept in a garage or shed.
It is road legal, and we handle the DVLA paperwork when you buy. Call ahead so the model is ready to try, and we will fit the seat and tiller to you before you drive it.

The Cobra in detail
Long, low and shaped by airflow. Drive designed the Cobra's bodywork to slip through the air, which helps it sit steadily on the road and get more distance out of its batteries. The result is an 8 mph scooter with up to 30 miles to a charge.

A seat you can set up properly
Comfort on a long run comes down to fit. On the Cobra the seat moves forward and back, the backrest tilts, and the armrests, headrest and tiller each adjust separately. Turn the seat to the side and you can step off without working around the tiller.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Cobra on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
