Will the Baja Bandit suit you?
The Baja Bandit is for the rider whose usual route includes grass, gravel and rough tracks as well as tarmac. Adjustable suspension and 9.4 inch solid tyres keep it composed where the pavement ends, and on the road it reaches 8 mph. Lithium batteries, 20 Ah or the larger 40 Ah, keep the weight down, and the compact frame turns inside a 53 inch radius. The rider limit is a generous 28 stone 8 lb.
Being an 8 mph scooter it is road legal, and we complete the DVLA registration with you when you buy. Call ahead so a Bandit is ready to try, and we can talk through which battery suits the distances you cover.

The Baja Bandit in detail
Made for the places pavements do not reach. Pride's Baja Bandit combines an 8 mph road-legal scooter with the suspension, wheels and motors for rougher ground, in a frame compact enough for Pride to call it portable.

Lithium batteries
A lithium pack weighs far less than lead acid and typically gives five to six years of service before it needs replacing. You get the extra distance without a heavier scooter. We can help you choose between the two pack sizes when you visit.
Size and handling
The Bandit is 1260 mm long and 707 mm wide, weighs 72.3 kg before the battery goes in, and turns within a 53 inch (1347 mm) radius. Drive one at our North West showrooms, where part exchange is available if you already own a scooter.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Baja Bandit on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
