The e-pilot P15 appeals to the confident manual wheelchair user who fancies covering real distance outdoors. It is a powered front wheel with handlebars that docks onto your chair in a few simple steps, so you ride rather than push. The large front wheel copes well with cobbles, dusty tracks and kerbs. Once there, you undock it and carry on in your usual chair.

The Alber e-pilot P15 Wheelchair Power Pack in detail
Dock it on, ride into town, undock and you are back in your everyday chair. The Alber e-pilot P15 is an electric drive unit that fastens to the front of a manual wheelchair and turns the pair into a sporty, handlebar-steered vehicle.
What you get
- A powerful drive wheel, large enough to take bumps, cobblestones and kerbs in its stride
- A hydroformed aluminium frame with the cables routed inside it
- An integrated battery holder with a lock
- Hydraulic brakes with levers on both the left and the right
- A stand with a patented swivelling action that helps when crossing obstacles
- An automatic charger that switches itself off, taking about 4 hours from empty
Display and controls
The full-colour TFT display twists off to take with you. On it you can read your speed, the battery level, the driving mode and trip data, while a menu handles language, traction assist and system details. A throttle handrest clamps on for relaxed use of the throttle on longer rides and is simple to retrofit.
Lights and options
The Supernova front light sits in an aluminium housing and gives 205 lumens, twice the output of standard lighting. Alber offer the e-pilot in many colours, and the Mobility Plus package is an option for those who want more pace.
