Will the Rascal 850 suit you?
The Rascal 850 is for someone who wants a traditional-looking scooter that can do the whole trip: 4 mph on the pavement, 8 mph on the road. Full suspension and a shaped, swivelling captain seat keep longer runs comfortable, and the 50Ah batteries can give up to 24 miles. It stays in one piece, so it lives in a garage, shed or porch.
It is road legal, and our team completes the DVLA registration on your behalf. Call ahead so one is ready to try at our North West showrooms.

The Rascal 850 in detail
Classic looks, full Class 3 specification. Electric Mobility's Rascal 850 keeps a traditional shape, finished with a neat front bumper, and pairs it with everything needed for the road. It is compact for an 8 mph scooter, so it is easy to place on a pavement and confident in traffic.

A seat you can set up properly
The sculpted seat slides as well as swivels and has lumbar support built in, so it can be adjusted to suit your height and reach. Try it in the showroom and our staff will set the seat and tiller to fit you before you drive it.
Looked after locally
A road scooter earns its keep over years, not months. Servicing and repairs can be done at a showroom or at your home, and we take part exchanges in store if you are moving up from a smaller scooter.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Rascal 850 on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
Can I get it on the Motability Scheme?
Yes, this model is available through the Scheme. If you receive a qualifying mobility allowance you can use it to lease this instead of buying, with insurance, servicing and breakdown cover included. Sign up in any showroom or call us.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
