Will the Apex Rapid suit you?
The Apex Rapid is a light travel scooter for people who go from car to high street. It comes apart for the boot with a 16.5 kg heaviest piece, roughly a medium suitcase, yet it rides on front and rear suspension with puncture-proof tyres. A charge can cover up to 14 miles, and the charging port sits high on the tiller, so there is no bending down to plug in.

The Apex Rapid in detail
Pride's first travel scooter with suspension at both ends. The Apex Rapid brought Comfort-Trac Suspension, CTS for short, to Pride's take-apart range. The result is a 4 mph scooter that packs into a car boot and still feels settled on rougher paving.

Simple controls
Steering is by a wraparound delta tiller, which lets you drive with either hand and keeps your wrists supported. The charging socket is mounted up on the tiller too, within easy reach from the seat or standing beside it. The seat swivels and adjusts, which helps when getting on and off.
Make it yours
The coloured shrouds clip off and can be changed for a different shade, a small touch that owners enjoy. Come and see the colours, try the seat and practise the take-apart routine at a showroom. Part exchange is available in store if you have a scooter to trade in.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Will it fit in my car?
Bring the car to any showroom and we will try it in the boot with you. We take it apart or fold it together, so you can see how it goes in and feel what each piece weighs before you decide.
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No. A 4 mph pavement scooter needs no licence, no tax and no registration. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
Can I get it on the Motability Scheme?
Yes, this model is available through the Scheme. If you receive a qualifying mobility allowance you can use it to lease this instead of buying, with insurance, servicing and breakdown cover included. Sign up in any showroom or call us.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
