Will the Maxi GTE suit you?
The Maxi GTE is a firm favourite among our road scooters, built for the outdoors. Large 33 cm pneumatic tyres and independent suspension on every wheel let it handle kerbs up to 100 mm and slopes of 10 degrees. It carries up to 160 kg, and its 75 Ah batteries give up to 34 miles of range. The seat turns to the side for getting on and off. It needs a garage or shed.
It is road legal at 8 mph; registering it with the DVLA is something we do for you. Call ahead so the model is ready to try.

Finished in metallic black and set up for the outdoors. The Maxi GTE pairs 8 mph performance with up to 34 miles (55 km) of range and a chassis that copes with kerbs, slopes and rough paths.

Seating that adjusts every way
You can alter how high the seat sits, how deep it is and how far it reclines. The armrests flip up and adjust for width, angle and depth, and the seat rotates, which makes getting on and off much easier.
Controls within easy reach
The delta handlebar sits on a tiller with no fixed steps, so it stops wherever you want it, and the headlight re-aims itself as the tiller moves. The wig-wag lever works with fingers or thumb. Our showrooms are the place to try this for yourself, and our own engineers look after the 12-month warranty.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Maxi GTE on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
Can I get it on the Motability Scheme?
Yes, this model is available through the Scheme. If you receive a qualifying mobility allowance you can use it to lease this instead of buying, with insurance, servicing and breakdown cover included. Sign up in any showroom or call us.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
