Will the Maxer suit you?
The Maxer suits a rider who wants a big, solid road scooter. Its weight limit is 31 stone, and a full charge is good for up to 35 miles. Tall 13-inch wheels leave 6.5 inches of room under the floor, handy on dropped kerbs and patchy tarmac, and oil-damped suspension smooths out the rest. It stays in one piece and lives in a garage, shed or porch.
At 8 mph it is road legal, and our team completes the DVLA registration on your behalf. Call ahead so the model is ready to try.

Ready for the road, whatever the weather
The LED lights draw very little power, so being seen does not eat into your range. The LCD display is waterproof, which matters on a scooter that will be out in British rain, and a 12-volt socket keeps a phone or sat nav charged on longer trips.
Comfort and support
The seat turns to the side, so you can get on and off without squeezing past the tiller, and its breathable cover stays pleasant on warm days. Sit on one in our showrooms and we will set the seat and tiller to suit you. The 12-month warranty is looked after by ScootaMart's own engineers.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Maxer on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
Can I get it on the Motability Scheme?
Yes, this model is available through the Scheme. If you receive a qualifying mobility allowance you can use it to lease this instead of buying, with insurance, servicing and breakdown cover included. Sign up in any showroom or call us.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
