This is a road scooter for someone planning to keep it for years. The lithium phosphate battery pack is guaranteed for 5 years, and a phone app lets you keep an eye on its condition. It reaches 8 mph on the road, with a half-speed setting for shopping centres. Suspension and 12 inch air tyres smooth the ride, it covers up to 40 km per charge and takes riders up to 21 stone. At 91 kg it stays in one piece and lives in a garage or shed.
It is road legal, and registering it with the DVLA is a short form that we complete with you. Call ahead so the model is ready to try.

The Galaxy Compact Evo in detail
The battery is the headline here. VanOs fits the Galaxy Compact EVO with a 50Ah lithium phosphate (LiFePO4) pack covered by its own 5-year warranty, then builds a quiet, capable 8 mph road scooter around it.

Battery and app
The Excel Mobility App connects your phone to the battery, so you can see how it is performing and look after it properly. A 24V charger is supplied. The motor is notably quiet, which makes conversation easier when you are riding alongside someone on foot.
Size and colours
The scooter measures 132 cm long by 66 cm wide and weighs 91 kg, so it is kept fully assembled at home. Seat height adjusts between 47 and 49.5 cm. Colours are Midnight Black, Shiraz Red and Oak Green. You are welcome to try one at our North West showrooms, where our own engineers also take care of servicing.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Galaxy Compact Evo on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
