Will the Audax suit you?
An 8 mph road scooter for regular longer runs: into town, over to friends, out along the lanes. Big 14-inch wheels, puncture-resistant air tyres and suspension take the sting out of rough tarmac, a full LED lighting system keeps you visible, and the large 100 Ah batteries charge on board. There is keyless ignition and USB sockets for your phone. Built as a road scooter, it stays in one piece and lives in a garage or shed.
It is road legal, and we take care of the DVLA registration for you. Please call ahead so the model is ready to try.

The Audax in detail
The flagship of the VanOs road scooter range. The Audax is a full-size 8 mph machine with a smart two-tone body, big wheels and the sort of equipment that makes longer journeys relaxing.

Batteries and charging
The Audax comes with 100 Ah batteries and charges on board, so you simply plug the charger into the scooter where it is parked.
Comfort
Air-filled tyres and suspension work together to soak up bumps, and the large wheels roll easily over dropped kerbs and patched roads. Come and sit on one at our North West showrooms, where our own engineers look after the 12-month warranty and part exchange is available in store.

Faster than 4 mph
Using the Audax on the road
Anything that goes above 4 mph is a class 3 vehicle. You do not need a driving licence, and there is no vehicle tax to pay. The rules are short:
- It must be registered with the DVLA. Registration is free, and we complete it for you when you buy.
- You must be 14 or over to drive it.
- Keep to 4 mph on pavements and in pedestrian areas. The higher speed is for the road only.
- Not on motorways, in bus lanes or in cycle lanes, and avoid dual carriageways with a limit over 50 mph.
- Insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is strongly recommended.

Questions people ask us in the shop
Do I need a licence, tax or insurance?
No driving licence and no vehicle tax. Because it goes faster than 4 mph it must be registered with the DVLA, which is free, and we complete that for you when you buy. Insurance is not a legal requirement, but we strongly recommend it.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. Just walk in to any of our 9 North West showrooms, or call first and we will have this model ready for you. If you cannot get to us and you live in the North West, we will bring it to your home for a free demonstration.
What happens if it breaks down?
It comes with a 12-month warranty, looked after by our own engineers. For a warranty repair we collect it and bring it back free of charge across mainland UK. After that, we service and repair at any showroom or at your home.
Can I part exchange my old one?
Yes. Bring your old scooter or powerchair to any showroom and we will value it there and then, with up to £400 off your new one. We can also give a price by phone, confirmed when we see it.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Not if the person it is for has a long-term illness or disability and it is for their own personal use. The price shown already has VAT relief applied. You confirm that you qualify once, with a short declaration in your cart. There is nothing to send to HMRC.
How will it be delivered?
Most people choose engineer delivery for £79: it arrives inspected and assembled, with a full demonstration, and we take the packaging away. Free courier delivery to the kerbside is also available.
